Long time no post
It’s been some time since we last posted here - blogging is less of a priority.
I wanted to give an update on how the guys are doing - This morning, I took them out to do their business, which they did. Then they came in and head their morning kibble.
Then we went out shopping, and ended up going to some see some friends, and we didn’t make it home until 11:30pm. I was fully expecting mess in the house.
Nothing. Of course, when I ran them outside they went right away, but they didn’t do anytthing in the house. They did scoff their evening kibble down though! Buddy is now sitting in my lap while I type, as Mommy is in bed sleeping already, so they are being quiet, like good little puggies.

Attacking Mom/Aunt Beth
Buddy and Reggie have decided to gang up on beth and attack her with kisses.
And this is what they were like last night when they were playing. This is why Reggie comes to visit the North Shore Pugs.

Diva for a day
A few weeks ago, Brutus decided he wanted to be a Diva for a Day. He refused to sit/lay on anything that wasn’t soft. He was pulling pillows around the couch to lay on, he spent time on his mat etc. He curled up on two pillows that were behind me on the couch that evening and when it was time for bed, he plopped his furry little tail on my pillow!! I sleep with two pillows, so I nudged him off of the one he was on and pulled it to the bottom of the bed to see what he’d do. Sure enough, he plopped his tail right back on it, curled up and started snoring happily away. He’s never done that before, nor has he done it since, but it was amazingly cute.

5 pugs and 4 hoomans
Yesterday our favourite pugs friends came to visit ... Murphy and Reggie.
Murphys mom brought her foster pug for a bit too, Brody. It was a little busy in the house with 5, but the back door was open, the back yard secure, so they got to play for a while.
After Brody went to his next home we ate, chilled, then headed to the beach. Pictures are on Reggies and Murphys blogs (links on the side), I didn’t take any as I was too wasted from the busy few weeks we;ve had and wasn’t thinking, besides, Mike always takes a million of them
They had a blast on the beach, Buddy and Brutus love the leash free freedom, love getting their feet wet (if it’s not too cold on the ocean) and love running like crazy. Reggie is a lot more weary of it, and will back up from the waves. Murphy was there for his first time and I was happy to see him diving right in and getting splashed and soaked!
We had a blast. Beth also managed to bake some of her famous doggy cookies that Murphy approves of so much!
Great day, I was just sorry I was so tired out :(

Walking the muppetts
Nephew Reggie is staying with us for a few days while Mike moves house ... We like Reggie staying with us, he pesters Buddy constantly, and Buddy comes out of it a little more mature than he did before, as if to say “You mean when I play, I’m *that* annoying?”. It’s rather amusing.
I’m also walking them. All three. Together. This is more fun than you think, as Brutus and Buddy have this “lets go! lets go!” attitude. Reggie has a slightly different attitude, best summed up as “I don’t *wanna*”
But he is anyway. I have a complex arrangement right now involving an extending leash and two, two dog couplers. While they get tangled up pretty quickly, it’s easy enough to untangle.
The fun part of walking three pugs, is that they are three times cuter than just one pug. This means I get constant comments from people as I walk. I walk a good distance, in some high traffic areas, so we get a lot of comments.
One little old lady who walks the similar route, at the similar time, has named the dogs “Trouble, Trouble and Trouble” as they keep trying to trip her up. Some hispanic guys in a truck wound their windows down and gave me a rather bad rendition of “Who let the dogs out” this morning, which was one of the more original reactions to the three pugs.
The normal reaction is “Are they brothers?” ... I’m not sure why they ask. Brutus is noticable bigger than Reggie and Buddy, and they all have noticably different markings ...
Still, its fun when they aren’t trying to trip me up in the middle of a road. With a truck coming.

Life after claw
Life without his claw really hasn’t affected Brutus in any negative way ... I’m not sure if it’s likely to regrow or not, he has a short stub of claw sticking out now, but it’s not moving much ...
In the meantime, I’m trying to bring them (and me!) down a few pounds by walking them each morning and night, about a couple of miles. I’m getting stiffer, but they seem to be enjoying themselves!
Hopefully the weather stays cool for a while, once it gets hot, these walks will be off.

Heres Buddy!
This blog was built way back before we got Buddy, and the picture never got updated.
So now it has. The template now has a picture of Brutus on the left, and Buddy on the right. Say hi!

No claw!
Tonight I tried walking the dogs on their first proper walk since Brutus’ incident with his claw. In the last couple of weeks it has grown longer, to the point we could see the break.
The first mile or so was fine. He didn’t limp or have any problems. After a while, he yellped. I looked down and it was twisted up and around. I picked him up and headed home.
At some point, the whole nail came off. Fortunately, the quick had healed up, so while that is now exposed, it’s not broken or bleeding. He quite happily trotted along once that nail had gone.
While he’s licked it a few times now, he seems in a lot less discomfort than he was earlier, so I’m very happy about that!

Healing
Brutus’ foot is definitely noticably better today! He was running around the kitchen and back yard without any issues when we got home from work.
Looking closely at it, the broken part of the nail looks to be leave the bed of his paw, which would explain why it’s easier on him. Hopefully it’s going to get more comfortable for him!
New site!
The content hasn’t updated in a while, but now I think it’s time to blog more here about the life of owning a pug or two!
So, “puggy blog” which was way too generic, and frankly uncool is gone, and North Shore Pugs is here!
Change your links, http://www.northshorepugs.com is now live!
I’ve updated some of the links, as Buddy and Brutus’ bestest friends ever, Reggie and Murphy weren’t even linked, which is a shocking turn of events.
Welcome!
Brutus broke a nail
We took him to the groomers last weekend along with Buddy. We knew his nails were grown a bit long, and wanted them trimming down a bit.
Unfortunately, he managed to break one in the holding cage.
Even worse, it was broken all the way in the bed. It bled quite spectacularly, apparantly.
This last few days though, he’s been enjoying lots of attention, and like a good pug, he’s milking it for all he’s worth. He runs around fine, until he sees Beth, then he limps. He won’t jump off the bed, but will hop up and down on the sofa with no problems.
The groomer didn’t touch the nail after that to trim it, we want to let it grown right out. We’re now going to be taking him back every other week for a trim, so we can get them back under control again. Hopefully when the weather warms up and the sun comes out, walking him on tarmac around the houses here will help. Right now, our back yard is frozen mud and grass, and not enough to wear nails down.
Silly pug!

Pugs in bed
We’re babysitting Reggie while Mike is away ... think he’s settled in?
